The pillar is at the southwest corner of the eastern part of Bilsaḍ town (Eta, UP). It is the southern member of the western pair in a group of four columns, probably remnants of the temple of Mahāsena mentioned in the inscription. The western columns are circular monoliths with copies of the inscription; the other pair (26 metres to the east) is square and bears no inscription. The height given for the pillar is for the extant finished portion; the top is broken off, while at the bottom there is a rough section of unknown length. The northern column of the western pair has the primary specimen of this inscription (IN00019), while the present specimen is mostly eroded to illegibility. |
