Authority | Paranavitana, S. (1934–41). ‘No. 20. Three Rock-Inscriptions at Rāssahela,’ Epigraphia Zeylanica 4, pp. 169–176. |
Details | Situated among the remains of an extensive ancient monastery on the rocky hill called Rājagala or Rāssahela in the Vävugam Patty of the Batticaloa District. In 1935, Senarath Paranavitana dispatched W. E. Fernando, the Draughtsman of the Archaeological Department, to make estampages of the inscriptions at Rāssahela, including those on the present boulder. Following this visit, a brief account of the inscriptions was published in the Archaeological Survey of Ceylon Annual Report for 1935 (p. 9). |
