| Details | Mihintale is a mountain about eight miles east of Anurahapura. It is traditionally identified with Missaka-pabbata, called afterwards Cētiya-pabbata, on the Ambatthala summit of which the missionary prince Mahinda is stated to have made his permanent residence during his life-time in Ceylon. |
