Details | Probably from Pakistan, ancient Gandhāra. Lapis intaglio (and modern impression) showing a woman facing right, with a crescent moon in her hair, a fire altar above and a tree and scorpion (?) in front; inscription behind her head. The emblems and inscription suggest an astronomical symbolism and Sassanian influences. Probably Hunnic. Find spot and current location unknown. |
