Details A set of three plates of an original set of four, the last inscribed only on the inner side, the others on both faces. Their surface is flat, without raised rims. The hole (1 cm in diameter) for the connecting ring is on the left-hand side, vertically at the centre, and horizontally about 5 cm from the left edge. The first plate as well as the connecting ring and the seal are lost. Mirashi and Shastri take it for granted that OB00153 is the missing first plate of this set. Neither scholar draws attention to the fact that IN00166 is not an exact continuation of IN00165: two characters at the end of the latter are repeated at the beginning of the former. Also, OB00152 seems to have foliation, while OB00153 does not. Accurate measurement of the plates' dimensions and the location of the hole on each may help settle the question. The mere fact that both OB00152 and OB00153 were in the possession of residents of Indore is no grounds to assume that they belong together, as Indore is quite far both from Tirodi, where the village granted in IN00166 is probably situated, and from Tewari, from where IN00165 was probably issued.

Details The plates were probably found by Wamanrao Islampurkar Śāstrī (a.k.a. Vāmanśāstrī Islāmpurkar) of Indore, perhaps in the early 20th century, in his searches for manuscripts and antiquities. Śāstrī handed the plates over to D. R. Bhandarkar. Bose recorded in 1937 that the plates were with Bhandarkar. Their previous history is not known. Mirashi (Mirashi 1963: 40) has identified some of the places mentioned in the plate in the vicinity of Tirodi (21.684226, 79.730380), in Balaghat District, Madhya Pradesh.
Notes May belong to the same set as OB00152.
