| Details | The statue was "discovered" some years before the arrival of an Archaeological Delegation sent by the Government of India to Afghanistan in 1956. At the time it was under worship at the Dargāh Pīr Ratan Nāth shrine in Kabul. It was said to have been brought there at an unspecified time from Gardez (32.3573737, 67.0006024), but locals in Gardez had no memory of this in 1956. Kuwayama 1976 reports that the statue had been removed from its niche in the temple and was about to be relocated within the same temple. |
