Details |
A set of two plates, each inscribed on one face only, the second plate slightly smaller. Thick but deeply engraved, so the backs were not suitable for writing on. Perforated about the middle of the upper side and originally connected through the hole by a ring to which a seal was attached. The inscribed faces are presumably 1verso and 2recto, in which case the top of each page faced inward when the plates were opened like a book. The plates are smooth, without thickening or raising at the rims. They seem to have been subjected to fire. |
