Details |
An oval seal. The upper field, separated by a double horizontal line, is occupied by an effigy of Garuḍa. This first specimen is better preserved than the second (OB00047), but nonetheless fragmentary. The proper right half is lost, and the seal is also damaged at the top and bottom of the extant fragment. The text of the two specimens is identical, but this first specimen was probably produced with a neater metal/stone seal and by a steadier hand. |

Details |
Probably now in the Archaeological Museum, Nalanda. Discovered in 1927-28 during the excavation of Monastery site 1 at Nālandā along with OB00034, OB00044, OB00047, OB00048, OB00049 and OB00052. All these seals are clay impressions that seem to have been baked accidentally in a monastery fire. |
Notes |
Found together with OB00047, which bears an identical legend. |
