Sri Ksetra, Pyay. Urn inscription (PYU20) from mound in the Payahtaung complex (HMA.31).

Sri Ksetra, Pyay. Detail of the urn inscription.

Inscription on a Stone Urn found in the Payahtaung complex, Sri Ksetra.
The inscription is in the Pyu language and has not been translated. The urn, however, is an exceptional object with an exceptional record that mentions the names of a series of the Pyu kings. It has the appearance of a memorial record or praśasti, suggesting the urn contained the remains of the kings mentioned, or at least the last in the sequence, possibly Pṛthuvikrama. As such this is the key object for the Pyu and the location of the site, a short distance to the east of the palace precinct and confirms the historical and dynastic significance of the record.
