Description |
The inscription is in four lines of highly varying length, running vertically (to be read from the top downwards according to Fleet; Carlyelle wrongly reports the opposite). Each line occupies one face of the octagonal section, commencing on the south side (l1) and ending on the northwest side (l4). The bottom of the longest line is about 215 cm above the plinth. Campus dimensions are given with respect to the orientation of the text, i.e. the width figure is actually the vertical extent. |
