Comment Intrinsic Date: 428 phālguna kṛṣṇa 15 (era: Kṛta). Fleet in his discussion takes kṛta to mean "expired", but since this is probably the designation of the era, we cannot be certain that the years are expired.

Description The inscription is in four lines of highly varying length, running vertically (to be read from the top downwards according to Fleet; Carlyelle wrongly reports the opposite). Each line occupies one face of the octagonal section, commencing on the south side (l1) and ending on the northwest side (l4). The bottom of the longest line is about 215 cm above the plinth. Campus dimensions are given with respect to the orientation of the text, i.e. the width figure is actually the vertical extent.
