Comment |
Intrinsic Date: 68 kārtika śukla 7 (era: uncertain). Basis of dating: approximate reign of Toramāṇa, conjecture. Melzer 2006: 263-264 argues for a date in the Laukika era, equivalent to 492/493 CE; Bakker 2015: 4-5 prefers the Kaniṣka era, which gives 495/496 CE. |

Description |
The two fragments bear 16 and 28 lines of text, some incomplete. Campus size is an estimate based on the estimated original height of the whole scroll. The engraving is careful, but its quality deteriorates at the end as if the concentration of the artisan had dropped. The scroll has not been cleaned, and patina obscures some characters that may be possible to decipher after cleaning. |
Decoration |
The text includes some ornamental symbols, see the edition. |
