| Misc notes | The existence of the inscription rests on the testimony of al-Harawī (d. 1215) who saw it embedded in the walls of a church when he visited Cyprus. It purports to give the text of surā al-Ikhlāṣ (ٱلإخْلَاص).
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ١ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ ٢ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ٣ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ ٤
God the one, God the eternal, He did not beget and was not begotten, And there is none like unto Him. |
